So this is for , as the first lesson as her tutor through the tutor and student program they are doing. Anyways, I hope this will not only help Narnianrain, but also anyone else who checks this out. Happy drawing!!
EDIT: Due to the overwhelming response and the enormous amount of faves on it, I just want to say thank you to each one of who you did fave. And though I won't be sending you a personal thank you, please know that I'm so thankful for each and every view and fave I receive on this. Thank you again! And again... and one more for good measure.
This is a good reference for an absolute beginner, they're very generalized motions but very well drawn and proportioned, and the foreshortening is done nicely. The only emotion I have a problem with would be the last "sad" one. I've never in my life seen anyone look like that when they're sad. Usually their body looks just as disfigured as the face--hunched, crumpled, lots of wrinkles, and cringed up. It's a good "movie" sad, but not a realistic sad. Try doing some 10-15 second life drawings of people, and do a reference like that for your friend. It's like learning on steroids. This way your friend will get the hang of major motion lines, important physical characteristics, and body proportions, and behavior of people so eventually they wont even need a reference anymore--they'll have a huge library of people in their head that they've drawn before in mere seconds.
Best wishes,
Chris
